A Commitment to Excellence in Sports & Performance Nutrition Education

The Sports Nutrition Education Program at North Carolina State University is dedicated to advancing the understanding and application of sports nutrition through high-quality, evidence-based educational opportunities. Housed within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences, our mission is to bridge the gap between research and real-world practice by providing flexible, accessible education for:

  • Dietitians and health educators
  • Fitness and sports professionals, including coaches and personal trainers
  • Strength and conditioning coaches
  • Sports medicine providers and athletic trainers
  • Exercise physiologists
  • Students and lifelong learners
  • Elite, competitive, and recreational athletes

and more!

Our goal is to make evidenced-based sports nutrition education accessible to individuals from a variety of vocational and career backgrounds who have a common interest in optimizing athletes’ health and performance through food and nutrition. We are passionate about helping learners gain practical skills and insights that translate directly to the field, clinic, or classroom.

Our program emerged from the growing demand for high-quality, non-degree nutrition education options. We recognized that many individuals working with athletes – both formally and informally – needed education that was evidence-based and accessible. By offering asynchronous, on-demand courses, we enable learners to access cutting-edge content anytime, from anywhere, and to learn at their own pace without sacrificing depth or academic rigor. Whether you are training a team for competition, supporting college athletes, or seeking to improve your personal performance, our program provides actionable, evidence-based strategies you can trust.

Our faculty and course developers are credentialed professionals with extensive experience in the fields of nutrition and exercise physiology. Together, they bring a multidisciplinary approach to our offerings, ensuring that our courses reflect the complexity and nuance of sports nutrition practice.

Through this program, we aim to not only inform but also empower our learners. Whether you’re looking to refine your current practice, explore new career possibilities, or simply stay up to date on the latest research, our program is here to support your journey.
